Bob Dylan and Robert Frost

 Hello,

This blog is based upon Thinking Task on Bob Dylan and Robert Frost.

1) Which is your favorite Poet/Lyricist? Why?

Javed Akhtar

Javed Akhtar is my favorite Lyricist Javed Akhtar is one of India's most renowned and prolific writers. Especially known for his work in Bollywood movies. His writing is deep, poetic, and often talks about important social issues. He uses beautiful language and makes people think about life and society.

I really admire Javed Akhtar because of how he writes. His words are so powerful and beautiful. Whether he's writing a sweet love song or a strong anthem, he always captures the feelings and experiences of people so well. That's why I'm such a big fan of his work. It's like he speaks to my heart through his lyrics, and I think that's pretty amazing.

John Keats

I absolutely love John Keats' poetry he's one of my favorite poets. His writing style is just incredible, and the way he captures emotions and nature in his poems is truly mesmerizing to me. His words are so powerful and beautiful. Whether he's writing a sweet love song or a strong anthem, he always captures the feelings and experiences of people so well.

Keats saw nature as more than just scenery – it was like a reflection of our feelings and experiences. He often used nature to show how connected we are to the world around us, how our emotions and dreams are intertwined with the natural world.

  • I also really admire other poets and lyricists like Gulzar, Wordsworth, and Coleridge. Each of them brings something unique to their work, whether it's Gulzar's soulful expressions, Wordsworth's deep connection to nature, or Coleridge's vivid imagination.
2) Share some lines from the Bob Dylan songs that you feel are relatable to you. Also, write the themes visible in those lines.

song: Blowin' in the Wind

Yes, and how many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky? Yes, and how many ears must one man have Before he can hear people cry? Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows That too many people have died?

These lyrics reflect themes of awareness, empathy, and the need for action in the face of injustice and suffering. Dylan is challenging listeners to think deeply about these issues and to consider what they can do to make the world a better place.

3.) Share some lines from the Robert Frost poems that you feel are relatable to you. Also, write the themes visible in those lines.

The lines mean that the speaker is thinking about a big decision they made in their life. The "two roads" represent different choices they had to make. Instead of picking the more common or usual choice, the speaker chose the one that fewer people take. This decision might have been risky or different from what others expected, but the speaker believes it has made a positive difference in their life.

These lines suggest that the poem encourages people to think about the choices they make in life. It asks them to consider what might happen if they decide to do something different or less popular. It's about exploring the idea that taking a unique or less common path could lead to interesting and positive outcomes.

It explores themes like, Individualism, Choice and Decision-making, Risk and Uncertainty, and Journey and Exploration.

4.) Post the picture clicked during the activity and share some lines of any songs from Movies, Poems, or any type of music you feel is relatable to the theme of songs by Bob Dylan and poems by Robert Frost.

Song :- Tujhe yaad na meri aayee           Kisi se ab kya kehna

 composed by Jatin-Lalit

Bob Dylan song:

"Girl From The North Country" (1962): This melancholic song tells the story of a lost love. The lyrics "If you see her, say hello / She might be thinking of me too" express a quiet hope for reconnection, even if it's just a fleeting thought.

The song conveys a deep sense of longing and yearning for a lost love. Even though the singer and the girl from the north country are far apart, he still hopes they can make up and get back together. He really wants to see her again and maybe even restart their relationship.

"Girl from the North Country" explores themes of love, loss, and the universal desire for connection and reconciliation, making it a timeless and emotionally resonant song in Bob Dylan's repertoire.

Thank you.
